Are football players from Illinois allowed at this combine or is it just for Michigan high school players?
The combine is open to IIIinois players as well.
Will there be any contact at this combine? I have a son, who will be a senior this season, who’s recovering from labrum surgery, and will not be able to have contact at that time, but will be able to go through the items listed above.
There will be no contact at the combine. You can sign your son up for the combine with the link below.
Where exactly will this be held in Grand Rapids?
Woodland Sportsplex.
Will there be 1 on 1s at the combine ?
Yes.
Will there be 1 on 1s at the combine ?
Yes!
Are the Grand Rapids and Traverse City camps exactly the same?
No they are not. Two different events.
Are they gonna be doing the 225 bench press here?
No – we will be doing the power ball toss instead.
My son also got a letter about registering for a combine put on by Rivals.com – it is in Wixom. Is there a difference in what goes on at these 2 events? Does it make a difference for him which one he chooses to go to? Thanks.
Thanks for the message. We don’t run that event, so we can’t speak to what all they will be doing. We do think our Lake Michigan Football Report events are some of the best in the Midwest because they are well-run and we have real connections with college coaches throughout the country. Hope to see your son on March 17th.
What do quarterbacks do for 1 on 1 positional drills
Throw to the WR’s..
What is a good throw for the medicine ball toss?
It’s hard to say what “good” is, but upwards of 30 feet.
What will the D lineman and linebackers and defensive backs be doing for one on ones?
DL vs OL
LB vs RB
DB vs WR
Should quarterbacks bring their own footballs?
They can but we have footballs.
What kind of football do you provide
Regarding the power ball toss, what is the weight of the ball?
It’s a 3kg ball (6.6 lbs)
Will we be split up into our own grade groups?
Thanks for the question — groups will be by position, not grade.
My son is a Freshmen, how “beneficial” is doing an event like this and should it be a yearly thing?
Very beneficial!
Do you have to do one on one drills both offense and defensively if you plan on only playing one side of the ball?
No — just the position you want to play.
Do we have to bring a helmet? Also if we signed up online already are we going to need a parent/guardian present on March 17?
Players should bring a helmet for one-on-one drills. Helmets are not required for the combine testing drills. A parent/guardian does not need to present as long as they have signed the Participant Waiver. This will be sent to the email address provided by parents during the online registration. It is also available on this page under “What To Bring”.
If you can’t get a helmet are you still allowed to participate in one on one drills?
At this point, we are strongly encouraging all players to bring a helmet to ensure participation in all drills. While it is possible that some one-on-one drills may be acceptable for players without a helmet, we want to ensure safety first. You should be able to contact your high school coach or athletic director for assistance.
Will their be lineman one on ones?
Yes, there will be one-on-ones for linemen.
What will RB’s do in one-on-one drills?
Pass patterns against linebackers, etc.
Will the 40 yard dash be on a field or on a track?
On the field.
Will all events be on the field?
Yes, all events will be on the field turf surface at Woodland SportsPlex.
Who do tight ends go one on one with?
Linebackers
The high school that my son attends are having their helmets reconditioned, therefore not available. Because of liability, other high schools will not allow you to use one from their team. My son is attending the combine as a DB and would like to participate in the one on one drills but in all likelihood will not have a helmet. See you on Sunday!
A few other players are in that same situation. We will adjust drills accordingly to maintain safety for all players. Thanks!
Thinking of driving over from the south suburbs of Chicago. Are you guaranteed to be able to participate as a walk-up registration?
We’ll get you in!
I was planning on registering my son on Friday but I forgot, went on today to sign him up and it is closed. Restating the previous question – if we make the drive tomorrow will he be able to do the walk-up registration for the increased price?
Yes. We will have walk-up registration available for everyone who comes tomorrow.
hello are parents allowed inside the facility to also watch the combine
this is our first time really looking forward thanks for the opportunity
Thanks for being part of this year’s event! It’s going to be a lot of fun and very valuable for the student-athletes.
Yes, the event is open and free to all spectators.
